Exploring our sense of smell

Today we played an investigation game. There were 8 secret bottles. Using our sense of smell we had to decide what was inside the bottles.  Teacher tried it too.  She didnt look at the answer sheet and kept it tucked away in her pocket.  Some children were extremely good at idenrifying what the smells were.  You should try your own version at home.    this activity gets the children thinking for themselves. They are not told what they are smelling but rather calling on their past experiences to reach their own conclusion. It is through simple activities like this that children gain confidence in using their knowledge to come to a conclusion.
